Updated 2026

Like the remainder of the site, this too is a section in the progress of being updated. Until all newly updated pages are uploaded, the older links will still point to the original Bassic Sax.

When someone is shopping for a new, Asian-made bass saxophone, they’re immediately confronted by a plethora of choices. However, behind all the stencil names, slight differences in finishes, and possible other variations, until recently there were really only two manufacturers: Jinbao and Jinyin.* This reality has been discussed on both the former Bass Saxophone Cooperative, and on the original Bassic Sax.

Steve Goodson, who worked extensively with Asian factories in the production of his own lines of saxophones for years, confirmed this on The Bassic Sax Blog way back on June 26, 2009, through a comment on one of my original Jinyin/Jinbao bass sax articles.

This section of my website is dedicated to Asian makers of bass saxophones, and really provides more of a photo gallery of the various stencil names that I’ve come across. As I find more in the future, I will add names and photos to the gallery.

You might also be interested in taking a look at my blog article series titled: Asian-Made Modern Bass Sax Brand Names. [Currently unavailable.] At the time of writing, there were 26 articles in the series already. If you’re in the market for a new, inexpensive, modern bass saxophone, then this might be a valuable series to take a look though.
