Original Bassic Sax.info Update

saxophone keys, painting of a left pinkie cluster on a Klingsor tenor saxophone, realistic painting with posterized colours of blue, green, and purpleAfter a great deal of work on both the original Bassic Sax website and Bassic Sax Blog last summer, I came to the conclusion that I do indeed need to make some changes. I had hoped I might be able to fix the existing sites, but the reality is when you have a website that has been around for a quarter of a century—let that sink in for a minute—and that doesn’t sell stuff, there is a point where someone just has to say: Enough. I have reached that point.

Now that the sites with the .info domain are up and running—at least most of the time—I am going to be making some rather big changes over the next 18 months before I find a new hosting company. As when I originally created this site last summer when I wasn’t sure if the sites were recoverable, the focus of this New Bassic Sax is going to be the most important content from the old site, as well as new research that sparks my interest.

What I’ve been doing over the holidays & in early 2026

Over the last few weeks I have spent a fair amount of time researching and writing new articles; dealing with server issues; and working with website developers. In short, I have spent more time troubleshooting and working on computer stuff, than researching saxophones. That’s not why I created Bassic Sax, so something had to give.

Now that we have at least the bare bones up and running, I can focus on the new articles that have been sitting on the backburner for weeks: Including one on the new Conn 150th Anniversary Limited Edition Alto Sax – Connfirmation. Conn Selmer, as well as a well-known and respected person who has been very involved in the development of this interesting addition to the pro sax market, have been waiting for me to publish this article for the last month or so while I get this website stuff figured out.

New type of content coming for Bassic Sax

Now at the top I did mention that Bassic Sax hasn’t sold stuff, and it still doesn’t. However, if you’ve you’ve been on my original Bassic Sax site over the past few years you have likely seen lots of images attributed to Get A Sax.

Brian and I have been colleagues for a number of years, and have been collaborating in a variety of different areas. One of the things that he and I both share a love of, is vintage Keilwerth, and H. Couf saxophones. Brian recently launched his new Get A Sax website. If you haven’t already done so, please check it out. What you’ll find there is a sax lover’s dream come true. A link to his site is conveniently located at the bottom of each page here, on The New Bassic Sax.

One of the things The New Bassic Sax will feature, is new content from Brian, that I am not able to produce on my own. I am really looking forward to this next evolution of our partnership!

Stay tuned for these, and further upcoming features. And yes, when looking for a new-to me sax, or when thinking of selling one of my fine, vintage babies, Brian is my go-to guy. He is one of the most stand-up folks I have met in my 20+ years in the online saxophone world. From horns, to cases, to mouthpieces and ligs, getasax.com really has it all.
